Saher Qadir

Merging the contemporary and traditional worlds through Art and Design

Saher- A young Pakistani Artist fell in love with creating simple elegant forms that were unusual and artistically challenging designed objects at her time at the Rhode Island School Of Design. She decided to pursue a degree in Furniture Design, a rarely chosen field, but one that has honed her skills to design and build. She also pursued a minor in the History of Art and Visual Culture in order to broaden her design sense.

While Saher’s concentration remains in building aesthetically pleasing objects with metal and wood, she has also explored a variety of other skills and materials; drawing, drafting, upholstery, painting and printmaking amongst many others. Her work is highly inspired and influenced by Traditional Pakistani culture. She aims to combine modern western culture that she has experienced during her time at RISD with that of her own heritage.

Saher graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in June of 2011 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She is now working as junior interior designer in an architecture firm based in Dubai.
